Delsyk Designs are designed as full shapes by hand as they need to be.

Delsyk boats are designed by hand and tested first as fiberglass boats to assure the hull shape and related stability and handling aspects are properly coordinated. Once the design is finalized, and this may take multiple iterations of prototype, the final shape is digitized into the computer. Because we precisely understand and control the amount of shrinkage which will occur in the final molding and building process, we increase the digitized shape accordingly, then program this shape into our milling machines to create the final molds from which the Delsyk designed kayak will be made.

It takes a subtle touch to achieve just the right size - to balance fit, stability and speed

Creating a boat by hand is actually "sculpture" and whether evolved from another boat, or a computer generation, the final boat design needs to be shaped and defined by hand. Kayaks fit to the body - indeed are actually an extension of the body - and they need to fit with and work with the paddler to become one. As such the boat should be designed with this level of craft and care.

Choosing the right kayak is best done at a Specialty Dealer where I can test and compare boats.

Kayaks are much like shoes or clothing. They need to fit well, be comfortable, durable, and perform the task(s) given them. Kayaks have two aspects of fit. One is "physical" and one is "dynamic". Physical is about you being comfortable, yet having contact and control of your boat through your cockpit. Dynamic has to do with the type of speed, stabilty, and maneuverability you want from the boat. Different boats will provide a different matrix of this in a cross matrix related to the customers size, paddling skill set and expectations. Finding the boat for you, by nature then, involves trying them on, trying them out, and ideally working with a store or center that can help you understand go down the path of developing your experience in the boat you choose.
